Sea Urchins Collection

Jade Culton is a graphic designer originally from the small coastal town of Waihi Beach, now residing in Sydney. Heavily influenced by her surroundings and beach lifestyle her designs explore the natural elements and memories of the New Zealand coast and ocean life. 

Sea urchins or kina which gave Jade the inspiration for this design are found on rocky shores around the coast of Aotearoa and have been a traditional source of food for Maori and a delicacy for many others. Their beautiful shapes and interesting textures suspended in the gently flowing water combine to make a unique design.

Sea urchins is printed onto a finely woven sheer base cloth, soft and floating, which represents the moving waters around the shores where the sea urchins are found.

The subtle colours of the print are drawn from their natural surrounds, both sea and shore.
